'ISSAQ' Movie

By Srinivas P

In this original Indian adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet directed by Manish Tiwary and produced by the Shailesh Singh & Dhaval Gada, we see the story transferred to Banaras set in UP heartland and its neighboring areas that are witness to violence unleashed by the sand mafia controlled by the urban elite and an equally violent retaliation by Naxalite armies.

While Prateik has been making news, the leading lady of the film was kept under wraps. Amyra Dastur, aka Bachchi who raced ahead of nearly 400 girls in audition, makes her Bollywood debut with this action-filled drama, 'Issaq'. Set against the backdrop of Banaras, the story begins by showcasing the violence unleashed by sand mafia controlled by urban elite and equally violent retaliation by Naxalite armies. The sand mafia is run by two influential Banarasi families, Kashyaps and Mishras, who are at brutal feud with each other. Kashyap has an 18-year old, pretty and innocent daughter Bachchi (Amyra Dastur) from his first wife.

Amyra Dastur's debut film 'Issaq' with Prateik is a fascinating love story between the two lovers. It is one of those stories that will make you believe in the concept of love that lasts forever. It has romance and action, very gracefully combined together. It shows how love triumphs all battles and succeeds.

Things change when Rahul and romantic yet head strong Bachchi fall in love. Ignoring the consequences, the young lovers choose to go ahead by listening to their hearts. What follows is an action-filled drama.

Manish Tiwary's 'Issaq' turns into a commentary on the meaning of love in contemporary India! Bollywood biggies like Salman Khan and Karan Johar have also appreciated the trailer of 'Issaq'and tweeted about it. It is an action filled love story with interesting twists and turns towards the end. Manish Tiwary knows how to get lovers to start off the blocks.

Talking about his violent tale of love, passion and anger, Manish says, "Ours is an entirely different story. Yes, we have taken up the clich's of Bollywood but then did things in our own way. It is a successful formula of course that we have adapted but there is a huge difference in the way we have narrated ISSAQ"
