Choosing The Best In Wedding Reception Entertainment

By Marcie Goodman

Wedding reception entertainment is a personal choice. What you wish for and desire for your very special day may not be the same for you and your soon-to-be-spouse as it is for the next couple. Every one has their own vision for a perfect reception. A couple should select the alternative that they are most comfortable with - it will help set the stage for a long and happy future together.

Many prefer to hire a band for the evening. They provide hours of entertainment, can sing preselected music for the first dance and other dances on the agenda, and can play significant wedding and love songs all night long. Be aware though, that bands can be quite expensive depending on the one you select. Most also only play one main type of music such as country or rock and roll.

For some, a disc jockey is a more flexible choice. They play any kind of music, the line up of songs can be selected in advance and they are often only too happy to handle any announcements or introductions that need to be made throughout the evening. Some assist in getting the guests involved with line dances and special routines. If the budget or even the space is limited, a disc jockey could be an excellent choice. They are available at almost any price range to help you keep your expenses down.

Karaoke is a fantastic method of getting attendees involved. They will be able to sing or reminisce and toast the happy couple in front of all the guests. Choosing specific songs that they know will be special to the happy couple is a wonderful way of honoring the bride and groom and this very special occasion.

Mariachis have also increased in popularity. They are a great way to greet guests as they arrive at the reception. Throughout the remainder of the evening, they will be able to serenade the bride and groom as well as the bridal party and all who attend. The upbeat music will give the reception a real party atmosphere.

Photo booths have also become very popular. Guests can take pictures of themselves to take home and the company can also arrange to have the photos placed in a book for the bride and groom to enjoy later. It is a unique way to capture the memories and faces of the attendees of this very special day.

If the event is on or near a holiday, there are special touches that could be added. Santa Claus at Christmas time, the Easter bunny around Easter and characters or even staff in costume near or on Halloween. Make New Year's Eve especially unique with balloon drops, noisemakers and party hots to add to the excitement and party atmosphere.

If children are invited to the event, activities especially for this age group will keep them occupied. Suggestions include clowns, balloon artists, magicians, and moon bounces. Designate an area with supervision away from the main activities so distractions and noise will not be an issue.

Choosing the very best in wedding reception entertainment is a very personal choice. The personalities of the bride and groom come into play as well as the location and budget available. Selecting the best activities that will make the day memorable and will get the bride and groom off to a good start in their new life together is what really matters in the end.
