Steps To Become A Ben Franklin Reenactor

By Tanisha Berg

For the purpose of teaching the people about history, historical reenactments are being performed. They typically present the events that happened during that specific period of time. The very important factor for the success of the reenactments are those people who plays the characters involved.

There are a lot of roles that could be played. The people interested could be medieval monarchs, war doctors, soldiers, and other roles. There are also those who reenacts figures prominent in history. One of them would be a Ben Franklin reenactor. A person depicting Benjamin Franklin dresses like him and acts like him as though he is the actual individual.

Becoming a reenactor is one of the hobbies many people enjoy. Most of them want to become a part of the reenactments commonly called as living histories. There are several things that a person interested in it should be considering.

Almost anyone can become a reenactor. Little children could be actors. However, there are certain limitations as to what role they should be playing. There are also those who are even in their sixties posing as war veterans of the past.

For civil war reenactments, which require an active role in the presentation, good physical condition is very important. These reenactments are usually performed in open fields. Since there are weather changes, he may be soaked in the rain on rainy days or drenched in his own sweat during sunny weather. For this, his health should be very good so that he can act out the role that he is supposed to play. Since they will be living a life like that of the past where there is no technology yet, he should also be ready for that.

It would be nice if he has a lot of acquaintances who are into reenactments. He will be able to ask for additional ideas as to how he should be portraying his character, and if he is doing a great job. They can also share their knowledge about history with each other so additional learning is expected.

The clothes that reenactors wear are the same as those worn by people from the past, depending on who they are reenacting. For this, the actor should be financially ready as the costumes are expensive and can only be found on stores that display such attires. There are also other reenactors who are willing to share their extra costumes so the actor can ask for their help. Most of them would typically give a lending hand once they know that a person is interested in reenactments. The actor should do an extensive research so that he will be wearing those clothes that will make it an authentic experience.

The kit should also be prepared and ready for use. For a person portraying Franklin, a cane, a pair of sunglasses, or an umbrella would be included in the kit. The kit includes items that the figure is typically seen using.

When he already has the necessary things set, he will then have the chance to be part of a living history. Aside from that, he will also be gaining additional understanding of history from these events. Reenactments are truly serious yet fun events.
