The Procedure Pool Table Refelting Denver

By Christa Jarvis

For the past many years, there have been many forms of the game of pool in existence. The fact that there have been various changes to the materials that the game is comprised has not had an effect on the felt cover. It is one aspect that has remained the same over time. However, it has a short lifetime that means it has to be replaced over and over after some time. In consideration of pool table refelting Denver residents should be acquainted with the basic of the procedure.

Among the materials required for the replacement are a socket wrench, felts, rag, cleanser, staple gun and hammer. For a start, the staples surrounding the pockets towards the underside of the table will need to be removed. This is followed by removing the rails securing the underside through the use of a socket wrench. Approximately, the individual will need to locate three bolts for every rail.

After removal of all the bolts, the rails are taken off. There is then detachment of the pocket liners as is necessary. When this has been done, the staples that are attached the felt to rail cushions will need to be pulled out. The felt that covers the cushions can then be removed with ease, after which it is removed. One needs to know whether the felt is glued or stapled, or both. Pulling of the individual staples from the felt is done using a staple puller. It is important to be very gentle when peeling the glued felt from the top of the table.

What follows next is preparing the felt for re-felting. All the holes and cracks are then filled with pool table wax. The wax will be left to wax for one minute or so before any excess is scrapped off by the use of a putty knife. The slate surface is cleaned using a cleanser. Prior to being covered using the felt, it is advisable to leave the surface to dry completely.

The felt pieces that will be used have to be properly and accurately measured. This is followed by cutting them in accordance to the table dimensions. Failure to do the measurements and cutting accurately will lead to the table having an undesirable appearance.

The next process is normally very important. One will need to start stapling the fabric to the table. The process is started at the center of one short edge before proceeding to the corners. All this is done while remembering not to cover the pockets. When placing the staples, one needs to move in increments of about two inches while pulling the fabric taut. This is done for all the sides of the table.

There is trimming of excess fabric from the pockets. On an approximate basis, three inches of the fabric are left at the inner edges. What follows is pushing of the fabric to the pockets such that all pocket sides are lined.

There is wrapping of the rails with felt. It would be vital to observe the unique design of the rails so as to determine the size of felt pieces to use. The rails are attached to the table, and then the liners and pockets are replaced accordingly.
