A Fresh Appearance With Reclaimed Wood Wall Decor

By Beryl Dalton

Old is new again in design. Often, the same thing occurs with fashion, as celebrities appear in vintage clothing that's been updated with modern approaches, like jewelry, makeup, and hair styles. In interior design, all the rage has to do with reclaimed wood wall decor. It's so beneficial on so many levels, and beautiful.

Generally speaking, the material comes from old barn wood. As such, it is great for the environment since it has found a new use. Rather than ending up in garbage dumps, it ends up adding style to so many homes, offices, and businesses. What's more is that there are endless uses for reclaimed wood, like wall decor, furniture, and more.

Many wonder how to use this in their own homes, and the truth is that it can be used virtually anywhere, in any design scheme. Obviously, it is ideal in a rustic theme, as the material has been naturally aged, and appears quite rough and rustic. Just as easily, however, it can blend in beautifully with modern themes as well, providing a balance between the old and the new. The same balance would continue in the polished and the rough.

Aside from rich textures, this would can have different colors that really can't be found in newer materials. What's more is that a consumer can expect the product to be long-lived because of its durability. Of course, being weathered, they won't look damaged, even if they do become subjected to a few bumps and grinds.

Moreover, one can apply this look to any home. It can go into one specific room or be carried throughout the home for a common theme. It could look great in a rustic kitchen, or an ultra modern bathroom. The end result could be as simple as complementing the existing decor, or creating a bold contrast.

Choosing the recycled wood comes with personal preference. Keep in mind that it was used in another structure, and was disassembled and recycled before being put back on the market. As such, one can discover, if it comes from a good source, what its previous use was, and where it came from.

Decorations using this material that are mounted on display are really eye-catching decorations, as well. Photos and art can be framed as they are embraced in these rich textures to provide the overall rustic feel. While they may feel rustic, and appears so, they are a fresh approach to design and a trend that has caught on and is here to stay.

What's more is that people can use these materials to decorate entire walls. That can help to create the all-important focal point that each room requires to complete. Otherwise bare walls, like those behind couches could be dressed up and warmed up so easily using such material. Finally, any consumer can feel good about this option, because it is an environmentally friendly solution that looks great and does so much for the planet.
