Basic Details About GOP Patriots And Policies They Have

Republican Party, also known as Grand Old Party or GOP, is among the two political parties that are major in United States. The name was derived from republicanism which is the value dominant during the American Revolution. They were founded by activists against slavery, economic modernizers and former members of the Whigs and the Free Soilers.

American conservatism is their current ideology with its platform that involves support for fiscal conservatism, free enterprise, strong national defense, deregulation, free market and labor union restrictions. Potomac GOP Patriots is among the volunteer organizations located everywhere which would reach out communities to discuss, campaign and advocate conservative principles. Their place have them as their district subcommittee.

They seek to promote traditional values largely based in Judeo Christian ethics because of them being socially conservative. And they oppose marijuana use, abortion, same sex marriage, illegal immigration, affirmative action and gun control. They also support changing the status of Puerto Rico from being a United States territory into becoming a new Union state.

They strongly believe free markets and individual achievement are the primary factors in economic prosperity. Eliminating welfare programs handled by government while favoring charity work in helping poor people with private sectors is advocated. Social assistance programs would result with state dependency instead of individuals being responsible of their circumstances.

The theory of supply side economics is what they advocate stating lower tax rates will increase economic growth. Several Republicans are against higher tax rates to those earning more as they believe those who create wealth and job is unfairly targeted. Private spending, compared with government spending, is believed more efficient.

They believe that employment practices should be established by corporations themselves including wages and benefits with the value decided by free market. Labor unions have opposed them generally because they support laws against them. Minimum wage increase was opposed because this hurts businesses by forcing jobs outsourcing and cutting with the costs being passed to consumers.

Strict constructionism or the judicial philosophy of closely interpreting the Constitution to the intent it originally had if applicable is supported by them. They favor judicial restraint that encourages judges in limiting the exercise of their powers and upholding precedents of past judges. They believe in federalism though states should have larger roles and limitations for federal authorities as well.

Historically, environmental protection and regulations are supported by their leaders who signed for this some policies. Their position since then has been changed though from their goal to combat climate change into believing that it does not exist. Although some members with higher positions possess a different belief regarding climate change and among them, this is unusual.

Ways of dealing illegal immigration is different among the Republicans with establishment types supporting path to citizenship for migrant workers. Populists though are supporting to secure the border and deport illegal immigrants. Their thinking on international relations and defense is heavily influenced by theories characterizing nations having conflicts against others as faceless forces instead of resulting from actions and ideas of leaders.
