Philip Stoddard Artist Juilliard Actor And Vocalist

By Paul Stevens

When it comes to theater arts, individuals come together as a group to make it happen. Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to the 50th anniversary of the Juilliard Theater Division and philip stoddard artist juilliard actor, director and vocalist. For throughout the coming season, friends, families, patrons, alumni, staff, teachers, directors, writers and actors will gather together to create and present a number of outstanding performances.

Creating change in the world through arts, music and theater is the goal of individuals, including professors and students at the school. For, while change can benefit individuals, it can also benefit institutions, corporate and educational. As such, the Drama Department will continue to change over the years while holding on the practices and principles which has made it so successful in the present.

Change is often considered a necessity in theater arts, especially when part of a higher learning experience. For, it is important to hold on to the practices and principles whom have made those involved who they are today. Whereas, it is also important to stay dedicated to the art form and continue to relay what it is like to be a human being during different events and times of life. For, most thespians believe it is impossible to be dedicated to any aspect of life if one is not in some fashion relaying that dedication to others.

While this is the case, there are still a number of untold stories and unheard voices whom have yet to grace the Juilliard stage. While some will still be on earth for the 100th anniversary, others will have passed on. Regardless, those present today will be a part of those whom come together in the future. For, the legacy of those whom have attended and performed at Juilliard will live on forever in the memories of those in attendance and the history of the school.

One actor whom has graced the stage at Julliard and will continue to do so during the coming season will moving on to greener pastures following graduation. For, while originally from Phoenix, Arizona, the actor, singer and director is now based in New York City. As such, once having graduated in May, the actor, director and musician will begin work with the chamber project shortly thereafter.

One of Stoddard's independent projects includes creating and operating OperaCamp, a new opera laboratory for the development of new operas which is open to all students regardless of division or focus of study. The world premiere of the camp included six exciting new operas. Whereas, the second season of OperaCamp opened in March of 2019 and is expected to match, if not surpass, the number of new operas created during the first year.

While still acting and directing during this last year at Juilliard, some past favorite opera and theater credits according to Stoddard include, Tommy Albright in Brigadoon At The Chautaugua Institution, Mozart's Don Giovanni and the title roles of Woyzeck, King Lear and a colonel in Father Comes Home From The Wars, the most recent of Philip's work.

Theater arts will most likely remain at the forefront of Philip's career. While this is the case, the young man also enjoys traveling, yoga, cooking, teaching, volunteering and organic farming. Although, when not in school, Stoddard also finds outlets for music and theater. For example, following graduation he will be adding a unique voice and sound to the upcoming season of the Israeli Chamber Project in New York City as a guest artist.
