Woodstock NY Travel Guide For A Great Escape

By Eric Long

When one thinks of Woodstock in the United States, images of hippies dancing about to Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens arise. You think of mud and young people covered in this as they slide around before they reach for the sky, celebrating freedom. However, there is a lot more to know about the area. With a Woodstock NY travel guide, you can get a lot out of this beautiful part of New York.

Many people who work in New York City like to take a drive out this way, since it is only a few hours. If you leave straight after work on Friday, you have a full weekend. There are some great places to stay. AirBnb's are available run by very friendly people. The contrast of the city and a place like this is like night and day, and this is often the big attraction.

The retreats and spas are out of this world. They are usually situated in some of the best spots with splendid views of the surroundings. You can stay at some of these places. In your spare time, you may want to go out for a walk. There are all sorts of treatments available which is a great way of forgetting about your latest assignment at the office.

There are people who enjoy the quiet life while being fairly close to the city for the sake of convenience. They enjoy the beauty. They also enjoy something a little different. There are young people here as well who are musicians as well as artists. Not everyone walks around in tie-dye t-shirts.

Don't miss out on the center for photography. This is a gallery which is in fact nonprofit. There are many speakers who come here on a regular basis. It is a good idea to plan your trip based on the speaker who comes here during the year because it can be worth your while. Back in the day, musicians such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez used to perform here.

There is plenty of entertainment. This doesn't include clubs and nightlife, but focuses on the culture which is appreciated by people who come to Woodstock. Apart from the music and the art, folk also enjoy the theater. There is some great outdoor seating to watch open air theater as well.

As you meander through different parts of the town, you will still feel the vibe and the atmosphere that was once present in the sixties and the seventies. You don't find this in many other towns. It is often the people, the music and the art which bring it back to life. This is what makes it feel so alive.

There are great music festivals which are organized at different times of the year. It may be worthwhile booking some time off work to attend one of these. Most people don't go and view musicians because of the quality of the music. A lot of musicians are just passionate about what they do. They may be an old timer and they just like strumming away to the Beatles.
