The Value Of Fight Club Soap In Everyday Life

By Richard Petersonen

If you watch the movie you may fail to observe the Fight Club soap references. However, this simple item makes many appearances throughout the movie. If you take a closer look you will see some hidden meanings.

After Tyler Durden and the unnamed movie narrator steal human liposuction fat, they begin the soapmaking process. When Tyler sprinkle lye on the narrator's hand, he wants to know why Tyler would do such a terrible thing. Tyler says that dealing with pain is an essential if you he wants to move forward in his life. After all, fearing death represents the ultimate in pain and once you conquer it, it frees you from fear.

Fight Club soap becomes more apparent as the movie progresses. Yet, it still remains something that is commonly neglected. Tyler makes a conscious effort to free his alter ego from fear and his obvious hang-ups in life, and soapmaking becomes the medium of his work.

Tyler mentions that materialism is dangerous. Things you own can become powerful enough to own you, over time. Manual tasks like soapmaking are uncomplicated and provide something of great importance. When you perform these activities it frees the mind and for a moment, nothing matters.

In the movie, fighting is used as a tool for self understanding. Fighting is the ultimate primordial challenge between two man. There is no materialism, no classes, no nothing just fighting. One person wins and the other loses and when it is over nothing matter, they are both released.

If you take a close look at the concept of Fight Club soap, you will see something common that is often taken for granted. When you realize the importance of these things it can belittle all the big things that bother you. It also can reveal the true nature of these problems and demonstrate that they only exist in conviction. Life's problems may be easier to get over than you may think.
