By Greg Long

Most individuals who keep themselves updated in regard to technology may already have heard about 'cloud'. This is usually a virtual space and it's the place where data is kept, accessed or moved. This ensures that there is no need for storing an otherwise precious data in an in-house system which can be possibly fallible. Therefore, it is place for storing files as well as other items.

The 'cloud' has also continued to play a role that is progressively large in the world of telecommunication. Most of the small and medium-sized businesses do opt for a cloud based phone system. Indications are also that the interest that it has attracted can only rise. This leaves the question as to why it is such a positive thing for the small enterprises to invest in and what exactly it is.

It is essential to note that the equipments also play an important role. This is why it is important to avoid having subpar switches, wiring as well as other equipments that are improperly wired. For instance, where a small business has soho or home based networks such as DLink and Linksys, there are chances that there is a need for the proper configuration of the devices in order to allow VoIP and SIP as many of these have some internal firewalls.

In regard to cost savings, the cloud based phone system can be phenomenal where they are deployed correctly. However, their downside is that incase the network of the business is horrible, it will face various issues which they will try to pass to the provider. They will complain about issues such as an echo in the phone, the phone constantly getting disconnected and not getting on the internet. All this blame will be heaped on the service provider. It is also important to note that where the internet connection is disrupted, there will neither be VoIP or SIP.

For instance, you can have a device such as a 3G dongle to act your backup or if its for smaller operations, you can make use of an ATA as this can be plugged into the analogue line, incase the network is down.

On top of this, there are no installment costs and the monthly prices that are usually set are far much lower. Therefore, there is no doubt that the cloud based phone system is the cheapest way of connecting any business place with the rest of the world.

Another reason as to why the system should be installed is that there are a number of features that are incorporated with the cloud based phone systems. These would in normal circumstances have cost a lot of money. These many include an ability to have a call routing which is smart, call transfers, voicemail boxes that are different, automated receptionist and an extension structure that is easily adaptable.

When it comes to enhancing the professional image of a company and increasing its productivity, the cloud based phone systems play an important role. For various costs, there are different benefits that are offered by different companies. For this reason, there is a need for coming up with a list of the things that you need the business to benefit from. You should then match these needs with the different packages that are offered by the different companies. Therefore, it is without doubt that cloud based phone systems are important in ensuring that telecommunication is not only simple but also affordable.
