The Cost Of Riso Inkjet Printer

By Angela Dubois

Riso inkjet printer is an electrical device which generates digital images by propulsion of ink droplets onto photopapers. The devices are available in different sizes ranging from cheap and small consumer versions to larger expensive professional makes. The knowledge of printing was in use by the 19th century. There are different worldwide companies that make these gadgets. These devices may be linked wirelessly to computers for generation of digital images.

There are 2 main technologies used that modern makes use. They are the continuous inkjet or CIJ and drop on demand or DOD. CIJ is used in industrial marking and coding of goods or packages. The CIJ technology entails high pressure pumps that conduct ink from the reservoir through microscopic nozzles and gunbodies. This produces streams of drops of ink via the plateau-Rayleigh instability.

Piezoelectric crystals produce wave sounds as they vibrate in the gunbodies and breaks the stream of ink at uniform intervals. A range of 165000 to 64000 drop per second can be achieved. The droplets get subjected to electrostatic field that is created through charging of the electrodes as they form. The field differs depending on the degree of deflection required. Charged ink droplets are separated by a single or several guard droplets to lower electrostatic repulsion.

DOD is divided into thermal and piezoelectric. Thermal inkjet printer has print cartridges with several tiny chambers. Every chamber has a photolithograph heater. To eject ink droplets from the chambers pulse current is passed through the heating elements. The ink undergoes rapid vaporization within the chambers to form bubbles which in turn create more pressure propelling ink droplets onto the paper.

Water based inks containing dyes, glycol, or pigments are the most use. It is cheap to produce such types of inks. The major disadvantage with water based inks is that it is hard to control them once on the surface of the photopaper. Aqueous ink provides most vivid color and broader color gamut although they are not waterproof and require application of special coating or lamination after printing. They are also most likely to fade fast if exposed to direct sunlight.

Compared to printers that use other methods like laser printing, dye sublimation, and thermal wax, inkjet printers do not need warm up time. They produce smooth and fine details using high print head resolution. Other versions have high velocity printing feature that allow them to generate documents faster. The makes can be monochrome and full color. Special software are necessary for different color mapping in case the gadget be connected to a PC.

These devices are however not error-free. They can breakdown because of mechanical problems. They usually consist of microchips which indicate expected ink levels. They at times mislead operators into thinking that cartridge chambers are empty when they are not in real sense. Blocked nozzles are another problem that commonly occur in printers while water based highlight markers can discolor and/or blur documents.

When is need of Riso inkjet printer there are several online retailers that sell it at affordable prices. All makes of printers are available in such stores. More information about them is accessible on their blogs over the internet.
