Steps To Making An Abstract Watercolor Painting

By Serena Price

The process of making an abstract watercolor painting is actually quite a long one because one has to paint a certain object in a different light than what most people see. Contrary to what most people believe, abstract art does have meaning behind it but it will take a different kind of brain to decipher the meaning. Just for those who do not know, here is how this kind of art is created.

Of course before anything else, one has to first go to the art store and buy some of the necessary things. Now the very first thing that one will be ending would be some brushes and some paints to start working. From there, get a cup, fill it up with some water and set up a canvas in order to start working on the artwork.

The very first step in this process would be to look for an object that will be the object of the artwork. Of course one may choose what he would want as an object for the artwork as long as it does not move at all. When choosing the object, one has to make sure that he has a certain connection to that object so that he can actually paint it.

After choosing the object and concentrating on it, it is good for a beginner to first lightly draw the object on the canvas. This will help the artist be able to create something out of the simple drawing because the simple drawing will act as a point of reference. So if one is not a seasoned painter, then he may do this step first so that he will not have a hard time.

After making the light sketch, then the next step here would be to conceptualize a bit and start visualizing. The thing that he must know is how he views the object that he is working on and then try to paint it in a different way. He must already have some sort of visualization of how he is going to paint the object.

Now when he has already conceptualized his piece in his mind, then he may start mixing the paints and water. So in order to start off, one may start the first stroke with any color and let his creativity flow. From there, all he has to do is complete the artwork his own way.

Now the last step of the process is the editing of the work and the adding of extra layers. Editing is very important because it is the last step before the perfection of the painting. It is here that one may add some finishing touches as well as some extra strokes and colors to make the artwork look really beautiful.

So if one would follow these steps to making an abstract watercolor painting, then he may come up with a beautiful finished product. Of course he has to go through a process of conceptualizing before he comes up with a finished product. As long as one follows the process, then he will not have a hard time starting from scratch.
