Are There Great New York Night Life?

By Malcolm Gladwell

When it comes to the night life no other city sticks out more than New York City, and it is within the lower two thirds of Manhattan where the good stuff are usually located, which is much like other attractions. New York provides a nightlife that is really good, which occurs in places where there are not a great deal of hostels and hotels, but taxis are almost everywhere and beginning at 9 at night they are able to fly around town, so it's ordinarily not a problem residing in one area and partying in some other. The subways are regularly jammed packed with men and women late at night and also operate the whole night, so there isn't a whole lot of danger.

Night Clubs in NYC

In different areas of town there are various nightclubs, but the western section of Chelsea on 27th Street and the blocks around it is where the main concentration of NY clubs are located. Plenty of the places you would call a night spot are based downtown, mainly in and near Greenwich Village. There are a lot of valuable places right across the river in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and there's a lot of bars that occasionally serve as little night clubs in the East Village.

The information you find above is, however, is not a massive amount of assistance because, just as in plenty of other huge cities, on a day to day basis the New York night club market changes. Night clubs are hot one day but several months later they shut down. Due to things like drug offenses even some of the stalwarts that have been operating for a long time have been experiencing some trouble as of late.

Lounges in NYC

The lounges around NYC can potentially remain open right up until 4 a.m. every single morning, but several close between 1 and 2 a.m., at the very least on weeknights. One of the things that makes night life in New York so magical is that there are small sized lounges located throughout the different boroughs like Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. This makes it simple to take a look at one location and if it's way too jampacked, too empty, or playing tunes you can't stand, you can simply walk back out and be in the following place just a minute or two afterwards.

Night Life Neighborhoods - Your Fast Guide

Hell's Kitchen - This neighborhood has a scary name and is located on the West of Times Square, and it has become very nice in the past 10 to 20 years, and 9th and 10th Avenues have a lot of New York City lounges and a few bars that are interesting.

Chelsea - As already mentioned, this area is where the majority of "mega-clubs' in the city are located even though the lineup switches up each week or so. There are many great lounges all around the rest of the area - some completely new, and some really old. There are also gay bars situated in this area.

Greenwich Village - New York University rules the middle section of this large "village" area, which indicates there are a lot of bars usually filled with individuals that are just legal to drink alcohol. A strip of bars are located on Bleeker Street - some have live music or comedy - but these are usually packed with bridges, tourists, and tunnel types. Most of the time, when you travel more to the east you will start to see more interesting parts of this area.

East Village - Specifically in the eastern section, also referred to as Alphabet City, this is the very best drinking neighborhood around the city. There are a lot of bars on pretty much every corner when you reach east of 2nd Avenue. The easiest way to reach this area isn't the subway, but it's worth walking a few extra blocks. On every single block Avenue A and Avenue B have plenty of places, so it's possible to do a long pub hop in this area by just going a hundred yards or so.

Lower East Side - This region is regarded as a small East Village, as it's a small neighborhood positioned south of Houston and East of 1st Avenue. It's more fashionable and more hipster-oriented, and has the same exact wild feeling. There are a few live music bars located in the area, and people can get crazy and wild on Saturdays and Sundays.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn - There are plenty of areas that are intriguing here, and this area has changed into a popular location in the past 10 years. Instead of the other way around, a lot of people come from Manhattan to party in Brooklyn.
