Fascinating Facts About Film Production Companies

By Sherry Gross

For years, people have sought of ways for them to be entertained. There was the printing of books for those who wanted to stimulate their minds. Songs were written for the melancholic as a form of expression. Television was made for those who wanted to see something different, and along them film production companies raleigh came into being.

A film is also called a movie. It also goes by the name motion picture. Whatever you may want to call it, the fact still remains that it is a series of still images which creates an illusion of moving pictures. The reel, or that certain roll of film that contains such, is fed into a machine that projects the moving pictures to a big screen.

Variety is the spice of life, and it most certainly is in the film making industry. To provide for this needed variety, there now exists many different movie genres that cater to the varied interests of the public. Comedies and romance flicks still top the charts, as most of them can be viewed by the entire family. Horror induces fear, action projects adventure.

There are many reasons why these films are made. First, for practicality sake, they are made because millions of dollars are earned by a single film. This makes it a very worthwhile business. True, one may be required to spend a hefty sum, but after the film is released, it will bring back your expenditures and more.

It is also quite a very profitable business. With the perfect story, the most suited casting and the most adept crew, a spectacular movie is made. Producers are the ones who fund the making of the film. Depending on the chosen genre, expenditures for production can reach millions of dollars, which will come back in full, plus more, with ticket sales and distribution earnings.

There are many stages of production before the said picture is to be released to the public. It starts with the development stage. This is where the brainstorming of ideas are made. If the picture is to be a novel adaptation, rights should be bought during this part. Once the initial storyboard and characterization has been approved, the screenplay will be written. The said script will then be presented to the one who is interested in making it a reality.

The next level is pre production. After the production budget is drawn, the crew who work with the technicalities of the movie is hired. The first to come are the set artists who make the props and the perfect backdrops for some scenes. Scripts are also being handed out to chosen casts for them to internalize and memorize.

Production comes into being as the scenes are being shot one by one. The raw elements are recorded. It does not really follow the chronological flow of events, instead individual scenes are taken and pieced together in the post production where the shots are edited and visual effects are added along with sounds.

The final stage of the making of the movie is also known as the distribution stage. Once the film is done, it is being marketed. Trailers are released, stars are interviewed, critics are invited to do reviews. Once all the marketing stuff is done, the product is now being sent off to cinemas all over the world. Some are recorded in discs for home entertainment purposes.
