Characteristics Of Adventist Music Seattle

By William Harris

Church hymnals are intended to glorify and praise God. They are usually considered to be gifts that are only used to praise God. More so, songs tend to be very important in any spiritual program as they are good forms of worship. Adventist music Seattle has a rather different genre compared to all the other types of praise. This is because some principles have been set to ensure that any form of singing is in line and compatible with these church principles.

Other types of rhythms like pop songs, jazz, rock songs and many other related genres are not considered as part of church songs because they do not follow the set principles. This is because the church melodies are taken to be like the primary as well as eternal activity that humans use to glorify God. Hence, careful planning should be done to ensure that everyone in the congregation participates.

Melodies used when the song service is in progress should only be directed in praising God. Therefore, they should be singable, strong and be poetic. More so, the minister of the church is required must be keen during singing to make sure that the singers are singing quality anthems that are in line with the church principles.

If there is a choir, there must be a master composer who composes meaningful anthems which will be sung by the musicians that are well prepared and dedicated. There should also be instrumental classical such as a piano to harmonize with the choir during singing, and they must be handled by a player who is able and well trained.

During the singing, the instrumentalist should be able to accompany the congregation in the worship melodies. If it chances that there are special songs or vocal solos in the church, the context of a music must be directed to praising God, and the singer should not sing to showcase his/her vocal prowess. The message should be communicated in a paramount way as well.

When it comes to the youth evangelism, the suggestions and principles of these songs will still apply. This is because the young people tend to identify closely with melodies of contemporary youth culture. Therefore, the youth will tend to use idiomatic elements that bring problems with the rhythm of the songs as they tend to differ from the set principles.

Additionally, several folk songs are traditional, and they tend to be legitimate as well as respectable. The ones that have been accepted by the house of God should, however, follow the same rules and guidelines. More so, when the congregation or an individual is singing, there should not be any altering or distortion of the vocals.

To add on that, the treatment of harmonic instruments should not be very saturated because they may start acting as a form of distraction from the quality of the songs as well as the spirituality of melodies. The performers must be well dressed and have a visual presentation that will not be inappropriate and excessive. Any excessive vocal or instrumental amplification is also not allowed.
