Advantages And Disadvantages Of Screen Printing: Printmaking Workshops NJ

By Mary Bell

Screen printing is one way a person can get their point across when it comes to matters of getting creative. Watching it being done may seem cool, but having to do it for the first time is where things get interesting. It s not rocket science per say but there is a certain art that you can admire at printmaking workshops NJ that is needed to make prints on certain garments like a t-shirt for example.

So the basic premise of the printing method works in a similar manner as someone painting or spray painting over a stencil which is often called the screen. By placing the fabric on a flat surface one is able to transfer what is essentially on the screen onto what is on the garment. As simple and easy as that.

As a very flexible method of printing, it s able to accommodate many a style and designs without compromising on the color. This gives it a leg up over other alternatives because they usually have strict guidelines that need to be followed in order for a product to emerge just right. A lack of adhering to these rules and a person risks wasting money on a product that won t turn out the way they intend for it too.

A person has the ability to make their design as elaborate as possible and still be able to print it due to the wonderful ability the medium has with regard to reproducing colors and designs of whatever sort. This means that designs are not limited to black and white and the use of color means that almost any garment can be used underneath to make the design pop.

But the reality is, the more color that will be used in the design, the more expensive the design will be. The reason is that there will have to be a screen created for each and every color and that takes some time and effort, especially considering that it needs to be perfect every time.

To be honest, the only reason anybody would consider screen printing with some serious thought boils down to one reason. Durability. Yes, all the other positives make for compelling arguments but the only reason people ever do anything is that of how long what they invest their time it will last. And when it comes to screen printing, it sure does last.

The second option is a little less insensitive and includes the inclusion of specially designed tags on the hem of the t-shirt and shipping to a location specified by you the client rather than having to inconvenience you. But again, this differs from the service provider to service provider being inclusive for some while another charge it separately. So it is important that one does their homework in this regard.

At the end of the day, we all want to be unique. Custom screen printing for our clothes is a sure fire way to stand out and get noticed in the right direction. And for some, the start of a very good business, all it takes is one little design.
