Advantages Of Empowering Books For Preschool Girls

By Rosella Campbell

In many countries across the world, women still struggle to have an equal voice in several areas of society. Whether it is in politics, business or even in education, women are still held back from fully contributing to their country. This hurts the entire country, since the ideas that both genders have are vital to development. Empowering books for preschool girls encourage young people to step up and take responsibility for their own lives.

A wide range of characteristics make people unique. Everyone has different features, from their hairstyle to where they live. When a young girl understands how her level of education, ethnicity and other factors influence the way that she sees herself, it can impact her greatly. The way that any young person sees herself is influenced by these factors and that in turn influences how much progress she makes in life.

There are texts which are focused on people of different ethnic groups. These are helpful to kids of those backgrounds and those who are not. They educate everyone about how valuable each person is and show all readers that they should be proud of their physical characteristics and their heritage. These are designed to increase self acceptance.

Real historical figures impacted the world in ways which can still be seen today. These individuals stuck with whatever was important to them and remained true to themselves even in the face of adversity. This type of quality is emphasized in several texts which focus on women who have struggled against tremendous odds in order to achieve what was important to them.

The message of striving to do as well as you can is paired with that of self acceptance. Girls who have not yet reached pre school are shown that being accepted is not dependent on being perfect. They learn that they are perfectly beautiful people just as they are and do not have to master any particular skill in order to be loved.

Self appreciation is essential for older and younger people. Artwork is used to emphasize this. Since these books are designed for young kids who do not have fully developed reading skills, lots of bright pictures are used throughout them. Beautiful watercolor paintings accompany words in some situations while in others, the story is illustrated using pastels.

Simple stories are used to focus on the fact that girls are strong enough to make journeys that are challenging. Throughout their lives they will have to brave the elements and all sorts of obstacles in order to get to their desired outcome. Through stories, young children learn that it is okay to keep going and facing challenges does not mean that they will fail. They should never give up just because an unexpected challenge arises.

Stories for young kids show them that just like they already do or will at some point in the future, everyone faces pressure and anxiety. However, they have a choice when it comes to how they deal with it. Through all of these texts, children learn that it is okay to be themselves and they should appreciate who they are. They do so at an age when they are forming their perception of self.
