Free Online Acoustic Guitar Lessons

By Rosella Campbell

The guitar is one of the most well loved instruments of all time because it is one of the easiest to access whenever one would want a tune to go with his song. Now unlike before, it is now actually possible to get lessons for this instrument from the internet. So if one would want to learn to play this instrument but does not have the money to do so, he can get some free online acoustic guitar lessons instead.

Now usually, these internet classes would consist of some notes accompanied with videos. These notes would usually contain the basic strings and the parts of the instrument. After that, these notes would contain the major and minor chords that one will be playing throughout the lesson.

Now the videos are extremely important simply because they provide the visual aids of the lesson. If the lesson is all text and no visual aids, it will be extremely hard for the student to grasp the concepts of guitar playing. Through the videos, one will also be able to know how to properly move his hands when he is playing.

Now if one would begin the lesson, he will first start with the very basics. The one part that the teacher would really concentrate on would be the strings because these are the things that would make the tunes that people would hear. He would be learning the different tunes that all of the strings would create.

After learning the basic notes, one will now be touching some strings together to form a uniform sound. This uniform sound is known as a chord and it will be used when one is strumming. One will first learn the basic major chords which are A, B, C, D, E, F, and G and will then go on to learn the basic minor chords.

Once one has already learned the chords and how to strum the guitar, the next thing one will be learning would be finger picking. If one would want a less uniform sound or a more relaxed sound, then one will definitely have to rely on finger picking. The video will be teaching viewers how to position the hands in order to do this.

Once one has mastered these two techniques, then he may combine them both and play a song. Now the teacher would most likely let the viewer play a very simple song first since he does not have much experience with the instrument yet. Usually, these practice songs would consist of an intro that does finger picking and a chorus that requires strumming chords.

Basically, these are the things that one would be learning when he would go for one of these online lessons. Of course the online classes will never replace real classes because of the personalized attention that real classes would have. However, if one would just want to learn the very basics of playing the instrument, then these classes would have to do until one has enough money to enroll himself in real classes.
