To protect your collection it is important to practice proper comic book storage. Some collections may be valued at several thousand dollars so it is very important that you learn to properly store your collection.

Comic book collectors are typically proud to show their most popular and valued comics. They spend time at auctions and trade shows looking for rare treasures. Most people with large collections like to show off their books a conventions. Books with light wear that have been stored properly have increased value. It is a good idea to learn how to preserve your books that ensures that damage will be minimal.

The most important thing collectors need to properly store their comics is a controlled environment. The area in which you store your books must maintain a specific temperature. If you rent a storage unit it is important to make certain it is temperature controlled. Controlled air keeps your books safe from moisture that will cause mildew and mold.

Basements and attics are not ideal places for storing comic book collections because temperatures in these areas fluctuate. Closets can make suitable storage areas for collections since the area temperatures tend to be appropriate and the books will be shielded from sunlight. Folks who live in climates that are hot and have no air conditioning should consider storing their collection elsewhere.

If storing books for display they are best stored upright. The upright position will prevent bending that may warp the book pages. You may also enclose the comics in clear sleeves that protect them from dust. It is also best not to put too many comics on a single shelf since crowding can cause damage. If you do not want to display your comics you can store them in boxes made from cardboard that is acid free.

The boxes are mad of acid free cardboard and designed specifically for the storage of comics. They are available in short or long sizes. Short storage boxes can hold as many as 100 comics. The long storage boxes will accommodate three times as many as the short bx. You can search the internet for providers and compare prices.

Most collectors are not just interested in storing their comic books properly to preserve the value. When the collection is correctly preserved you can be sure that their readability is protected. You may intend to pass on the collection to family members. When properly preserved you are guaranteed their value will increase and they will not be damaged so that you can enjoy them in years to come.

Taking care of your books will ensure they are not damaged. It does not matter if you want to bring you collection to an auction or a trade show, or hand on to them for your personal enjoyment, storing them correctly is very important. Making sure that your collection holds its value and the pages maintains their readability is dependent on taking care to properly preserve them.
