All About Mixed Media Patterns

By Audrey McGuire

There are so many ways that art can be expressed. Anyone that wishes to create something that can be called a work of art can just create whatever it is that he feels like doing. One of the most interesting art pieces that can be created would be mixed media patterns. This is a method of creating art by using different kinds of media and not limiting yourself to just one.

In art, a medium that almost everyone is aware of and make use of would be the pencil. Other common types of medium are the chalk, crayon, watercolor, marker, and charcoal. There are also things like sand, pastel, and conte. In architectural art, things like stone, sand, wood, glass, and metal can also be a medium. Mixed media allows a person to use any medium that he desires.

There are many ways that this particular art is being applied. Aside from being used to decorate interiors, it is also being incorporated in various industries. The best example would be the textile industry. This is also used in the fashion industry for designing bags, clothes, and all sorts of fashion accessories. It is used in houses and furniture.

One of the things that could happen with the use of more than one medium is that you can come up with something abstract or surreal. The design will have the edgy and contemporary feel to it as well. This is because you are playing with different textures and colors that are being held together in one base.

This method also facilitates creativity and would be one of the best ways for anyone to express himself. A problem some people have with just using one type of medium is that they feel limited. However, having many options means you can easily channel all your emotions by using any medium that you like.

The freedom to use any medium means that one is also free to utilize whatever technique that he has in mind. This would be ones chance to experiment using different tools and techniques. It is also a good way to give more depth to an art by making layers that differ in terms of texture and applications.

For anyone that wants to give this a try, he or she can do so even without formal instruction. The good thing about art is it not just for people that went to art school. However, if you prefer to be taught by an artist, there are now many studios that offer art classes so one know about the different techniques or methods.

However, if your interest is only on the art piece and not really on making it, one thing you can do is to just commission someone for the task. There are already many artists that accept orders from others. Another option is to visit different galleries and exhibits where you can find art pieces that maybe for sale.

Mixed media patterns represent fun and beauty. These beautiful patterns tell a story and embody a person's feelings. These are things you can appreciate whether you are an artist or not.
