By Roger Miller

There are many aspiring artist who wishes to start their own company. But most are unable to pursue this dream because they do not have the background or experience to start a business. However another way for artist start their own business is to be a freelancer first.

Graduates of the arts believe that their path before them are fame, fortune, and their name being immortalized inside a museum. However even fine art for sale to get sold in one day is difficult enough for these people. As a result most do not pursue a career in art, but tend to stay in corporate jobs that are unfulfilling and make them unhappy.

For instance a photographer could excel in one area of photography such as taking family portraits or graduation photos. However freelancers would highly depend on referrals from their previous clients and advertising themselves too. Freelancers have a tougher job securing stable income because not only are they surrounded by corporate competition, but other freelancers as well.

Others never continue the path and regretably resign to another career path. Many career advisors often proclaim that knowing your want and need could help you find the right career path for you. However they do not often tell you how to do it, so most are still stuck in a job they hate while others shift from one career to another.

Therefore art graduates should not fear about their future, but if one simply takes the time to think and research their options. Then planning would make it easier for them, but not everyone can creates a plan of action that is suited to their needs. Obviously it takes a lot of time before graduates could figure out what to do with their career lives.

The business of photograph is to sell emotions, but another side to photography is stock images. Stock images have the same emotional trigger as studio photographs have, but they are mostly used with the written word. An example is the newspaper.

For example, a skillful and artistic photographer would find it easier to build their dream job and portfolio by getting employed in a studio. Most photographers who do not have the skill and experience should get a job in family owned studios, or in areas where they are interested in. Art in compasses a lot of things, so knowing what your niche is, is very important too.

Thus most of these types of employee eventually disappear to find happiness elsewhere. Artistic individuals often find it hard to stay in a stable job. Because they do not want their creativity to be hampered by company rules.

Creative individuals need to be comfortable in their work zone. However comfort might spell different for each individual. Thus companies should respect each creative individuals and their needs.
