By Margaret Young

The world is a theater whose every act is shrouded in mystery. Great writers have managed to capture these mysteries in their narratives leaving readers hanging on every word of a novel. The stories appear normal on the surface until you take a ride to an unknown underworld. Successful authors have used this style to create the best mystery books for adults. Here are a few of these titles.

Stephen King is known for his ability to weave a believable story. In his novel The Revival, A Novel, he tells of a bond that develops between a young boy and a pastor who has just arrived at his town. The mysterious bond results in a relation that is difficult to understand by all means. They share similar grief and have to deal with demons to survive. King has spread the narration across several decades and ends on a terrifying note.

Lee Child reveals his ability to create excellent mystery stories in his novel Personal, A Jack Reacher Novel. Jack is recalled to the police force after a gunman attempts to assassinate French president. Jack has to track the attempted shooter. He only knows one person who shoots with such precision from such a distance.

The police are about to close down the file on Chris Harper. They are however jolted to action by the emergence of a photo of the man with a freshly written caption stating I KNOW WHO KILLED HIM. This case is reassigned to Stephen Moran and Conway Antoinette. The novel takes you to the world of teenagers whose details will shake you to the core. The title of the novel is The Secret Place written by Tana French.

The Wolf in White Van is the work of Danielle John. It opens with Sean Phillips being confined to a wheelchair through an accident. He takes to creating video games to kill time. One of the games involves crimes and has become a favorite of two daring gentlemen. They decide to actualize what they see in the video game. This is the end of the game and the beginning of a new world of mysteries.

Johnson Denis is the author behind the book The Laughing Monsters. This is a narrative that tests the bond between two long time friends. They have been separated for a decade now. Ronald returns to meet Adriko and his partner. They embark on a trip to Uganda. Surprising, each has a personal motive of traveling to Uganda. The narrative presents an exciting exposure of the secrets that bind relationships.

Terry Hayes does an excellent Job with the title I Am a Pilgrim. It attempts to unravel the secret that connects four foul murders. Each of them is brutal and would best be forgotten in the shortest time possible. But to a retired CIA agent, this is what he should have been doing all his active life. He has a chance to rediscover his investigative instincts.

Mysteries in novels take several forms. Depending on your interest, there are numerous titles that will capture your attention. Considering the difference in writing styles, it would be difficult to pick the best unless they are categorized. However, the above titles stand out because of the nature of their narratives.
