When the dust settles " what we are talking about here at the end of the day is just about a musical instrument " the Violin. Its sure does not require a genius status to be able to learn to play regardless of all the YouTube videos of 3-4 year old geniuses you may have seen
The qualities you need are simply " the interest to play the violin and the tenacity to be taught how to play it. Having these qualities is half the battle " however you need to understand that it will take time for you to learn the basics of handling and playing the instrument. Be prepared to practice -practice " practice.
Is this a race? Heck " No!! take your time " realise that everyone learns at a different pace. So if you happen to be blessed with a natural ability to play any kind of instrument and it takes you just a few days to get used to handling the Violin " great!! If you are not as gifted and it takes you longer " that is ok too as long as you are learning and enjoying yourself
Looking back, 20 + years ago, at what options were available to some wanting to learn to play the violin " this consisted of either " hiring a personal mentor or signing up to classes at a local music school.
I should say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with either of these choices " but what if you were not able to access either of these routes for whatever reason " shouldn't you still be able to enjoy learning to play the violin? Thank goodness that today the internet has been a game changer here " today you have access to online courses on the internet.
You can now sign up for online violin classes from experts in the comfort of your home. Some of these online courses will even let you trial for free part of the course before you have to pay for the rest of the course.
Fantastic for those that don't really fancy the stress of going once or twice a week to a classroom environment " they can learn from the comfort of their home.
One downside to learning from home is that you will not be able to interact with other students like you who are also learning. However, I know that not everyone is comfortable with the idea that others can hear their practice sessions " so in essence for a lot of beginners they tend to be quite happy learning from home.
So if you fit the category above then I suggest you sign up for online violin classes to start of with, down the road if your finances and time permit then you can look for a music school to enrol in.
Doing it like this will ensure that when you do get into a classroom environment you are ready and capable of coping with whatever pace set by the teacher.
