Why should I buy an Android phone?

By Arthur Madrick

Android has made great progress since 2005 when Google bought a relatively unknown company called Android Inc. During the period of 10 years Google opened up the platform and let anyone get a hold of, enhance, change, use and share it free of charge.

Freedom is the keyword that sets apart Android from all the other smartphones on the market. Apple has a tyrannical like grasp on its iPhone and Blackberry isn't very different. On the other hand you're free to download and install any application you would like with an Android phone. The app market is not limited by what someone within the review department believes to be suitable.

With this particular type of liberty, software coders are abandoning Apple and embracing the freedom that developing for Android offers. Nowadays there are thousands of applications available, many of them are actually practical! For example the standard texting system is nothing to scream about on the Android nevertheless it doesn't need to be because there are over a dozen free of charge applications that you could download that can replace the internal texting application. This level of customization and choice just isn't available on other smartphones where the manufacturers want to tie you down to only their programs.

Since it is much easier for coders to create apps and because there is more competition you will notice that many programs that you have to pay for on the iPhone and Blackberry are free of charge on the Android, or at least it will have a free 'lite' version offered so you are saving on the cost of modifying your phone.

If you're anything like the typical Internet user you almost certainly use multiple Google web services such as Gmail, Gtalk, Drive and Search. While you can acquire these services on other smartphones, the Android OS has built software that incorporate and synchronize seamlessly with your smartphone. For instance, say you add a completely new contact into your address book, Android is intelligent enough to sync your Google contacts list for those times you ever lose your android then all of your important contact information is stored in Google's cloud services.

Security is probably a large factor and with smart phone usage increasing, counterfeiters and criminal gangs are actively attempting to get access to the confidential data people save on their cell phones.. Although you can get some good defense apps for Android you can be sure that Google has constantly got your back featuring its remote kill switch ability to remove any infected applications that may have discovered their way onto your cellular phone.

Lastly there is the essential aspect of variety. With an iPhone you're limited by one product, not excellent if you want to express oneself. The Blackberry targets businesses and the models are definitely not inspiring. Alternatively since the Android OS is a open source operating system that can be used without royalties, many significant smartphone producers are creating Android based mobile phones. You now have a choice of brand, choice of styles, choice of features and most significantly find a smart phone that matches your price range.
